“The best camera is the one you have with you”

I love my SLR, and I carry my equipment with me like an oversized purse. But every once in a while, I like to give my shoulders a rest. My trusty iPhone amazes me. I love everything about it, even the camera. At the camera store, I like to remind people that the best camera is the one you have with you. It’s great to invest in a monster SLR camera, but if you feel inconvenienced by carrying it around, then you are not going to have it when those “moments” happen. My iPhone is always on me, and I have used it to capture several special moments. Sure, there not billboard quality, but its still a picture to share with friends and family! I hope you enjoy some of my favorites! (All images captured and edited on the iPhone 4)

Black and White Photography

I hope you enjoy some recent Black & White images I have taken over the past couple weeks. I always enjoy shooting black and white, especially in Winter and early Spring. Finding old structures like these makes for great B&W opportunities, giving them a timeless look. Enjoy!

Backyard Stargazing by Jay Austin Photography

A few nights ago I spent some time gazing at the starry sky above my house. I set up the camera and took a few shots. A crystal clear evening with more stars than I could count… I hope you enjoy the view from my backyard!

The Magic Of Macro

I never pass up the opportunity to bust out the macro lens and capture some perspectives often missed by the human eye. Sometimes the small details tell a much larger story. I hope you enjoy just a few recent macro shots I have taken.

Acadia National Park

I recently spent a week in Acadia National Park with Melissa. We had a great time, even though there were some very chilly nights and a few too many rainy days. If you have never visited Acadia, you are missing out. There are so many beautiful things to see on such a small Island!
